About Stacy

a mother, a wife, an artist, a photographer, a sister & a daughter.

I grew up on a dirt road in Flint, Michigan, just a street away from the Flint River, in a small bungalow home with lilac bushes lining the west side and a beautiful silver maple in the backyard. Hoping for better opportunities, my family moved to North Texas in 1993. We lost my dad to cancer less than 10 years later. After some other twists and turns, I have been happily married to an amazing man since 2011, and we are proud parents to 3 wonderful young people, ages 13, 15, and 21. Our home is happily filled with ample amounts of neurodiversity (adhd and autism are the norm here), and two grey cats who allow us to live in their general vicinity and to feed them as often as they please; they are called Bonnie and Bella (Barla). If I'm not taking or editing pictures, there is a good chance I'm drawing, painting, or reading about neurodiversity, the history of United States politics, or building my family tree through genealogy. I am also passionate about landscaping with native plants for wildlife and identifying nature using iNaturalist. I LOVE watching my favorite band perform live, and recently, I started gave up learning how to play the guitar (It hurts), as well as hand embroidery (it also hurts). I inherited my grandma's piano last winter. I try to play a little bit every day.

My photography style

inspired by life

I have always been an observer of the people, places, and things around me. It's in my name. Stay. See. I find that taking pictures brings me a kind of joy that very few other things do. I have always been drawn to capturing the unstructured and authentic moments of life. I love how sunlight changes a room throughout the day, and how light moves throughout the year. I love how the slightest change in an expression can make someone look so different from one shot to the next. I love it when my subject is unaware that I am taking a picture, and they are just exactly who they are without pretense or correction. Most of all, I love it when kids want to take a picture with my camera, and I almost always let them, hoping to spark their interest in photography.

my passion

I have always loved photography. I remember watching my Grandma Grace constantly photographing the world around her. She was mostly collecting images for painting references. She showed me that it's perfectly acceptable to carry your camera around with you at all times, just in case you see something that needs to be photographed. My goals for 2026 are to continue pushing myself beyond my comfort zone (using flash? Posting on Facebook?), to take daily pictures of things I love, and to complete a personal photographic project by the end of the year. I am inspired by photographers like Vivian Maier, who chose to capture the world around her, not for fame or fortune, but because it was interesting to her and she felt it needed to be captured and preserved. I am guilty of hoarding photographs. Most of the images I take are never seen by anyone else. I am naturally averse to attention, so "showing off" does not come easily. I have to force myself to share my art and photographs. It is a strange and annoying characteristic for a creative person to possess.

A moment of Gratitude

Allowing me to photograph some of your most cherished memories has truly been an honor.

Thank you for trusting me to capture these important moments and the emotions they inevitably create.
